Fishermanpaddy
Hi folks, Ill keep this short. I have recently bought a CZ 452 American in .22lr (still waiting on my FAC so I should have it in about 5 years). The Rifle has no open sights as standard and as far as im aware its dovetail mounts 3/8. Could someone reccomend some mounts for me please? Do I need dampa mounts? Will the recoil from the rifle damage the scope if I fit normal ones? I have not chose a scope yet but im imagining that I will prob just stick a x4 on it. Cheers

Cheers hmm..bit confused.."recently bought cz452"..."still waiting for FAC"..?!?!?!? how can you buy an FAC rifle without an FAC!? apart from that, nice choice of .22lr, love mine to bits, dont see the need to spend anymore on a .22 as its as accurate as any anschutz IMO. The cz does have a dovetail rail and as far as mounts, you can spend as much as you want but i just have basic mounts suitable for an air rifle on mine..there is no recoil to worry about. Scope wise..this all depends on who you talk to..! I started like you mentioned with an AGS straight 4x40 scope but soon changed it as i found the gun was capable of shots further than the scope would allow clearly. now have a simmons whitetail classic 3.5-10x50, I find it a great setup, the scope allowing me to take any shot i feel capable of a clean shot. CZ550Kevlar
There is nothing at all stopping you from buying a shotgun or rifle before you have your ticket, you basically hand your cash over to the RFD and he hands you a receipt, which means the gun is yours however you can`t posess that gun/have it released to you until you have your ticket. I do it all the time when i send my ticket for a variation and i find a gun i really want and don`t want to lose it i buy the gun first to secure it then collect when the ticket goes through, no dissapointment. EDIT - in response to the original question any standard scope will do you along with standard mounts, the only thing that will affect you is how high you need the mounts dependant on moderator used and size of glass at the front. Fishermanpaddy
Hi thats great thanks for your quick reply. When I say purchased I actually meant paid half the price for a deposit, figure of speech I guess. I was just worried as I used to shoot with an old Webly Patriot AR (30 ft lb) and the first time I put a scope on that the buck of the damn thing broke it on me so thats great to know that a bog standard mounts will work on the CZ. As you say Its a quality Rifle with a really sturdy feel, Im completey novice on the 22lr scene but I have never heard a bad review of these Rifes. Pus I went through em all and it was either that or the Marlin, I have nothin aganst the Marin but the stock and action of the CZ were superior. I have a few scopes from my Air Rifle days so I guess im gonna start with the x4 and build up my confidence and grouping with that 1st before I progress Again thanks for your reply which has been most useful. EDIT - Sorry for the confusion, I have been shooting for 12 years with Shotguns / Air Rifles, this will be an addition on my current FAC by way of a variation form. Living in NI its notorious for variations, taking up to a year to complete for rifles hence my sarcasm at the start. I think you'll find it is illegel to even put a deposit on a gun if you haven't the slot or licence..... I know a lot of shops do it btw 5.2 Under sections 1 and 2 of the 1968 Act,it is an offence for a person “to have in their possession or to purchase or acquire” a firearm or ammunition to which section 1 applies or a shot gun without holding the appropriate certificate. I know a lot of shops do it btw putting a deposit on a rifle or shotgun is not illegal. i do it all the time. it is only a deposit not an entire purchase but a mere holding sum. i dont own the firearm untill its signed over and on my ticket no matter how much i pay.
