I was out in the boat today and caught some Gurnard. I never kept them before but thought I would actually keep a few this time as everyone raves about how good they are. I filleted them tonight and noticed they were riddled with parasitic worms which were embedded in the meat of the belly cavity. Now I gut all my fish within 5 minutes of catching them, so it wouldn't have been that the guts were left in too long. So does anyone know if they are harmful? And are they the norm with Gurnard? So at least we know its not the shipping that makes them kack! I think they are the worst round by far, I had a batch of yellow jackets not so long ago and the failure rate was quite similar. I stick with Winchester now, subs and supers, never had any problems with them.

Thanks for all your replies fellas, its clear that there is no definitive answer. It really depends on the individual. I think what I will do is start with the twin sticks and work my way up (if neccessary). Figure it will be easier to add holes than take them away :-) ATB

Gentlemen, Im planning on constructing a set of shooting sticks for fox / rabbit shooting as I have come across new ground and the old bi pod just isn't practical on it with too many low - lying obstructions. There is no problem with the actual build but I don't know which style of sticks will be better. The twin or tri sticks that form a large bipod / tripod to rest the fore end of the rifle on. Or else the folding sticks (usually 4) which allow for the fore end and stock to be rested simultaneously. Your opinions / advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

The sad thing is, everyone on this forum knows what a right pile of propaganda this program is for the antis. But meanwhile up and down the country there are hundreds of thousands of families (im focusing on the children here) sitting down to watch the cute little foxes frollicking about on tv. And because of the media (adveritsing) driven environment we live in, a lot of these families will be forming their opinion on foxes based on the drivel they see on this program. This does'nt exactly bode well for the hunting enthusiast / pest controller of the future when the younger generation who have been brainwashed grow up to be politicians, doctors, police officers, Nosey neighbours with grudges etc etc. Surely there would be plenty of material out there to put together a documentary focusing on how fox populations left unchecked cause severe damage to livestock and livelyhoods. Australia would be a great example. Oh and get some famous pro-hunting celeb to narrate like Harry Enfield, Anne Robinson or Vinnie Jones.

I use a mil dot scope zeroed at about 70 yds with subs and its quite handy for hold over/under. Obviously you will need more of a hold over at longer range when using subs but Ackley is spot on just set your targets up and get familiar with your setup.

Why the hell are they all running away?? Their mate is getting mauled and they leg it. There are plenty of ways to incapacitate a dog in that situation.

Are you going to be using subsonic rounds or high velocity ones?

I'd say if you walked through Aughnacloy with one of these you wouldn't look out of place

I used to use a old wind up alarm clock to help me get to sleep at night then just gradually got used to the ringing. Now I have to stop and concentrate to hear the ringing. :blink:

Im afraid I have destroyed them since, sorry. I did open one up with the Dremel (after removing the bulet and powder ofcourse) And there didnt appear to be any priming compound. The next one I get ill endeavour to do a cross section for you. I really dont think it would be the pin as the rifle fires everything else consistently. I could be wrong tho.

That makes sense. Ill just give it up as a bad job, lesson learned.

Hi folks, I went out this afternoon for a plinking session with the CZ (and also to zero in the scope). I usually use Winnie SuperX's when shooting Rabbits but a mate reccomended The Remington Yellowjackets for a bit more stopping power. Any how I bought a box with the intention of checking their grouping around the 80 - 90 yard mark, and I wish I hadn't bothered. The grouping seemed ok but the problem was getting the damn things to fire. Out of 30 trigger pulls with them, approx 20 fired and the other 10 were mis fires. I gave each failure about 10 seconds then cocked the bolt and tried again but none of them fired (even tried the opposite side of the rim with no luck). I fired 50 Winnie super X's and around 30 CCI subs during the same session with no problem at all so I think there may be a problem with the batch of ammo or else its just bad stuff altogether. Has anyone had any problems with this these rounds? It would be a decent enough round for rabbits if it was more reliable. Below are two of the faulty rounds
