Hi,

My question is has anyone been given permission to shoot on farm land in the Newcastle area just I went out last Saturday and at numerous farms was told we have some one taking care of this. I never see anyone on the land nor do I hear guns being discharged. I'am looking to get my foot in the door so would appreciate any advice or if anyone does have a shoot in the area maybe some pointers or places I could ask.

Thanks

Matty

Try posting a nice letter or dropping a card through.....people are less likely to just say yes on the spot. Also, they might not need someone now but will maybe give you a bell when they need a job done.

I'm ok I've got hundreds of acres mate, but travel about 1 hour to get there which is fine by me ;)

I don't mind traveling think I might try up near hexham when am next up for the horses. Also might head to bowburn as my mate says he used to shoot down there but hasn't for ages, suppose I will just have to put extra diesel in the car :good: cheers for your replys lads

you'll struggle to find land at Hexham mate but if your face fits some farms will let you on even if they already have people on, and I have permission in Bowburn aswell ;)

You will not gain any access to land in the whickam and lamesley area as this is all taken by syndicate (Ravensworth) they go as far out as conset and all the way along to beamish .Also the fields out the back of the birtley garden centre up to ousten ,believe me they will not entertain anyone that wants to shoot vermin due to them worried in case you take any of there poults .Your probably better off trying further afield as someone suggested maybe ponteland and so on ,Durham and chester le street are crammed with people on permissions probably two or three to each permission I know I have at least another two on mine except the one where I have been shooting for a few years and know that the farmer will only let me on his land and no one else .

Best of luck with your quest or should the search for permission be classed as a Mission due to it being so difficult to find now .

Regards Darren

Keep trying mate, I have just got another golf course more or less on my doorstep, went up the other night for about 30 mins, saw Hare, rabbit and loads of roosting pigeons.

Sounds canny mate, I have fallen on good times got a permission down in heighton (County Durham) found it on here through Mad1 (Scott) he is a really sound bloke and has sorted me good off shooting this Sunday with him. Think I might try some more golf courses as well there are enough of them around :)

Dont be put off ,by people saying that you will not gain any permission in certain areas  .I now have over 15 farms and a few golf courses to shoot on.Most of the farms do have other people shooting them, but some farmers say that, some blokes hardly ever turn up.Keep looking and you`ll be ok.Ps see you have a some luck already.
