wyatt
Grey Partridge on Autumn Watch Midlands Today had a piece by David Gregory on the work being done to support and increase the dropping population of Grey Partridge in the Midlands. From the start shoot management, gamekeeping and the work of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust was mentioned in regards to the work they do towards this. It made a change to see the activities around shooting praised in the news, however short the clip. Hopefully Autumn Watch will show a longer clip promoting the work that goes on showing that we don't just go out to fill the sky with lead, but work with the land to promote and manage the animals and birds that live there. al4x
what they don't like to say is its less to do with farming practices and more to do with predation. The worst farming practices for most birds actually create areas the Greys thrive as they like large open fields with few woods, we've got a cracking population of them and probably shoot around 50 every year with no detriment to numbers. Best way to help them is to shoot foxes and were you allowed to have the balck and white stripey ******* as well as they really hit them when they nest.
