  3. Thanks for your replies again gents and your pics Joe!
  4. Consider re-instating them! I've had to add two more to my house to solve a damp/condensation issue. Window vents are good but dont always pass enough air. Depends on your circumstances of course..
  5. Wife wants to take mine to church. Told her I'd fight to the end to take them shooting instead, much more of an education. Flipping catholics, pretend to say sorry and aparently it's all forgiven.. Now about that lead.. still no sound evidence is there!
  6. Think I've got it, I was expecting it to do the actuall squeaking but you have to do that with your lips.. all a learning game!
  7. Some times you have to drive like you're king of the road, otherwise no one will ever give you the room to carry out a manouver safely. I got my HGV (C+E) license in the Army, what I see as a car driver most days scares me, let alone trying to drive a lorry some places. Only yesterday a boy got out of a car, walked in front of it and into the road without looking. Only because people could see it was about to happen did they stop in time. He did not care about what could have happened. Cyclists need to take responsibility along with everyone else for their own lives first. Don't put yourself in a situation where you could be hurt. That would stop a number of accidents.
  8. Keep catching my youngest eating her boogies. When asked why she says they 'taste nice'. Kids eat all sorts of things which aren't good for them, until someone has some evidence that this is bad I'l let mine eat whatever I can get into them. They're fussy enough as it is.
  9. Stick it on a flapper! Best shooting I ever had was with a mate, his flapper and a maggie. Was flipping freezing but we had 13 of them.
  10. I agree with the weight comments, it is about muscle memory and being use to working with it. I'm not the biggest bloke in the world and struggle to hold a rifle on target without waving round like a french surrender monkey. I'm trying to train this out of me as I've tried weights and I'm too lazy.. (lets not lie about this..!). Fit as others have mentioned is most important, weight may become an issue after this maybe not!
  11. Afternoon, thought I'd try my hand at making a few of these but seem to have failed misrably. I've seen the thread on here with the link to youtube and followed the instructions. I cut them down, removed the plastic from one and tapped out the primers. When I put them together and give them a blow, **** all comes out apart from the noise of the air.. what am I doing wrong please!?
  12. Ive been to Sunset at the Palms in Negril. I'd go back. good part of the island but even there a guide is recommended. oh, and we went loads of places! all, however organised. I would think of hiring a car..!
  13. Lab has appeared frequently! Another forum has mentioned a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (Toller). Is this a bread that anyone has any experience of? Edit: Looks like whilst they're good dogs, they deserve someone with experience to get the best out of them!
  14. For sale £15 delivered, payment prefered by BT. Inner is a pile material. Hand and thumb section fold back and velcro open, either with the inner pile glove still on the hand or inside the glove part. Made by Mountain Range, they're in olive due to my past employment. Condition is excellent as I didn't go anywhere that cold and forgot them the time I did.
  15. I work from home the majority of the time, however on occasions there is the need to visit a customers site. These have and are reducing but I am still out sometimes all day. I am also very aware of the issues that would be encountered mixing training and a young family which is why I am looking into this as early as possible, I may train the kids instead.. I'll have a read over the posts, thanks for you time so far!
  16. Afternoon all, Apologies if this has been covered before but with it being specific to me and my family I felt it best to start my own thread. We're planning to get a dog over the next year or so, the more knowledge I can gather before the better choice I can make. As you can guess I shoot, so would be looking towards a working dog however: 2 three year old girs Family pet primarily that would hopefully acompany me out shooting (pigeon and rough, no driven game). I work from home so it would be with company the majority of the time, however I am out for the whole day with work so would need to be able to be on its own. I realise that this is a training thing but a calm dog would be best! House dog, kennel too risky by me. Probably prefer short haired, wife works so can't clean all the time! Possibly have a nose to track with, I recently had some shots I would have liked to have followed up. Fortunately I have a colleague who's ESS can follow a trail. Dog not bitch (none-negotiable!). Long list as you can see! I've no doubt there is a dog that'd fit the whole set, but some ideas of what I'm looking for would be greatly received. I may end up with a puppy from a rescue centre that has nothing to do with shooting, either way prior planning and all that..
  17. I've just made a compost heap today! Took 4, some scrap wood I had spare and a load of screws. If it lasts 2/3 years I'll be happy and then make another! Great fun, good learning experience and I'd do lots of stuff different next time.
  18. Still green near Brummieland, poor yield predicted, ears are very light.
  19. Colt is split into two defence and other sales: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt's_Manufacturing_Company They'll still be about!
  20. I do quite a few motorway miles each year and see some scarey stuff. Enough to make me slow down and be the better person in most situations. Cutting people up and pulling into their safe stopping space really ****** me off, not much you can do about it though. Father in Law who's ex police says you're safer not reacting as you don't know who is in the car or what they'll do. They may have nothing to lose, I've everything. I am also considering getting a dash cam. It won't protect me but might help get rid of someone from the roads in some situations.
  21. Business world use POE which is power over ethernet. allows them to run a phone to a location without power. It does require power at the starting location by the phone line though! you could stick a base ststion next to the hub and leave the phone elsewhere. they dont need charging much?
  22. Not a fan, mine doesn't lock onto much. It needs a good reflection. A colleagues works much better but I don't know what he has! There isn't a built in light so low light or ranging into shadows may be an issue for you. I'd suggest reviewing some more expensive ones and see if you can get one second hand. Having said that there are plenty in use with only positive reviews!
