kevinbird
well i finaly managed to get out in to the permision and try out the new rotocoy. having managed to shoot a couple of pidies i set about breaking their wings and putting the birds on the cradle, the bird sits well in the cradle but i soon found out that i needed a modification, the head spike was so blunt that i managed to push the head off . a quick trip back to the motor and a couple of elastic bands later and the second bird was ready . i placed the rotocoy out in the field and sat down for a welcomed cup of coffee . i sat watching what was happening for a while and noticed that the birds were veering off when they got close so i decided to blow my cover and take a look. one of the wings had come off and the head was hanging to one side. a quick adjustment and back to the hide. within minutes a bird apeared and again veered off, this happened several times so again i checked the rotocoy. again the wing was off the flapper and it looked like a wing shot bird dancng on the ground . that was it for me , it was time to take it down and go back to the drawing board. rotocoy removed and shooting comenced . when i got home i decided to have a good look at the contraption and decided that a lot of modifications were needed, i fitted three crockodile clips. one for the head and one on each wing tip which seems to have cured the problem of mounting . Day two , out before daylight (fool)and set up with yesterdays bird on one rotocoy. exactley the same thing happened with the incoming birds? as soon as they got close they veered away. i took the rotocoy down and put up my trusty hypa flaps and low and behold i had birds comming right in to the midle of the decoys. my honest opinion is that the idea is good but the machine does not act like a pigeon and puts birds off. with a lot off work and alterations you might get something that simulates a piddie but not straight from the box, do i think they are value for money, NO. molly1
Hi Kevinbird I have never read so much rubbish that you have posted about the rotor coy machines. I have 4 of the 3 in 1 machines and think they are the best thing since sliced bread. If you go onto utube there is a short video on the set up of the rotor coy 3 in 1 and the rotor Coy flapper too. I saw a cheapper version at the Midland that was copied. I think that you must have brought a pair. Look at utube. I now use my orginal RC in place of the magnet. There has been a lot of decoyer's who have used the magnet with no concideration given to the art of setting up the decoy pattern. I have heard lot's of decoyer's saying that the magnet is scareing the pigeons away. This is now true in my area. They have just plonked the magnet in the pattern and hoped for the best, shooting at out of range birds and now we are now paying for there ingerance. The RC that I have are great and they work. I am awating for my Turbo Flapper to arive and add this to my pattern.

kevinbird
i would just like to thank the lads that left a constructive comment about my report. it is such a shame that some people have to slag of others honest opinions , i can fully understand when members will not write comments in case of this sort of attitude , i supose it must turn them on or something . if the member had of been constructive then maybe a decent topic could of been started and struggling newbies could learn from the aces. surley that is what the forum is for once again i would like to thank dolphin and yickdaz for their comments birdy
