Colster
I've decided to go for this,a cheap, accurate and good enough for someone learning to use a rifle for the first in my opininon My link It's the Sportster 17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire! How cheap is cheap? Not sure I'd feel happy hunting with a single shot rifle anymore, it would be worth knowing what sort of scope rail it has too. Mounts for a Dovetail are cheap as chips but most other systems will cost you a fair bit more for rings. wildfowler.250
absolutly a no brainer for me ! 17hmr will destroy both of your named quarry with no problems at all -its a fantasticly fast round 2600 ftps ! thats faster than most military sniper rifles - a very good vermin outfit - they even do a 20grn round now -i think 223 is too much of a round for rabbits more suited to monkjack 2600ftps? Thought it was more like 2225ftps? I would say 2 rifles. .223 or similar and a rimfire. If you want cheap get .22lr Brno. Would suggest hmr though as it's sweet on rabbits and I'm guessing you will be likely to bump into the odd fox out shooting
njc110381
Generally the HMR MV is listed at 2550fps. I guess you'd lose a bit through short barrels? Whatever, rimfire of any form is far from ideal as a Foxing rig.
