donetello
First hi to all just joined. My first problem is i took the fx2000 to a gunshop after ringing round and found thiers was a decent price for the upgrade. So i took the rifle to the shop and from thier initial price of £50 -£60,I was told it would be £70 but as i had travelled a fair distance I did not quibble about it.After a short conversation they told me the gun would have to be returned to Webley for the upgrade and to call back in 7 days. After a week I rang the shop and then went to pick it up,on arriving I was told they had to add another £10 for carriage making it £80.Ipaid and took the gun home the first thing I did was chronograph it to see how far up it had risen put 8 shots through and all about 12ftbs.So I tried altering the two screws in the gun which alter the power up and down after the conversion.Still I could only achieve 19ftbs,so I rang the shop who said the spring must have broke in transit and to bring it back to them.I returned the gun and was told to return in an hour which I did and was told gun was now ok.I returned home and tested it ok 27ftbs the next day took out some targets to set scope back up at about 45 yrds pellets going all over,so enlisted brother who shots air guns to try same result altering sights made no difference, tried various pellets no change.Decided to shoot some pellets into a bucket of oil then tip them out noticed a distinctive flat on all pellets shot,so returned gun to shop where bought, who returned it again to Webley after 14 days they rang me to pick it up along with a report which stated they had not had this gun back before and it had a hammer spring fitted which was 3 coils to long incorrect vavle port o rings and had also been reassembled incorrectly which caused the flats on the pellets. As you can guess i was fuming and drove straight to the other shop a long way away and dropped the letter on the counter an assistant told me to wait and when the shop was empty the owner asked whats your problem.I showed him the letter from Webley and he did not have an answer to it but was trying to tell me they did not cause the problem and I was not getting the money back he then opened the till and threw £20 on the counter and said thats all your getting take it or leave it.I told him that I would be contacting the Gun Trade Association of which they are supposed to be members and got the reply please yourself to which i left the shop.I wont name the shop yet as I am persuing all my money back, but would like your input and comments and any advise on how to persue this problem.Sorry its so long but tried to fit in any relevant facts. Thanks in advance. roblade
contact your local trading standards, i think they would be very interestead in this. Hva eyou got the original reciept you had for the shop doing all FAC upgrade on the rifle? (specificaly does it quote postage?) and did they give you an estimate or was it a quote? there is a big difference in the definition of the two words esspecialy if they said "it should be about......" that is an estimate(which £50-60 would be an estimate) "it will be......" is a quote. estimates can change but a quote is a legal aggrement (just ask insurance companies if they quote insurance or estimate it on your next renwal LOL) not a lot of help i know and im sure there will be a lot more advise to come on this one. all the best and hope you can get a happy ending to it. the pelt man
Did you take the £20, go back to shop tell them you want all your money back or you will take them to small claims court which will end up costing them a lot more. If they dont cough up send them a recorded delivery letter telling them why if they dont pay you back that you will take them to small claims and you will start proceedings if no reply within 2 weeks. If you win they have to pay the court fee which was £60 last time i went. You can also claim loss of earnings for the time you are in court. If you have the letter from webley keep it & a copy of your letter to the gun shop. keep us informed, good luck The Pelt Man
