chris o
hi all thought i would let you all know how proud i am with me little springer. it was his first day on the pheasant shoot that i beat and i took him along for his first shoot day and i cant believe how well he did. i wasnt intending to let him off the lead at all. but there was a couple of birds that one of the guns couldnt find so sent him out on them very clean acceptable retrieves. and worked the cover and lifted 20 odd birds with no issues and i cant get over how well he did. i must have done something right after all this time. sorry if i have bored any of you but i just wanted to let you guys know how he got on. thanks for all help and advice you guys have given me and for replying to my posts. thanks to you all and you do the shooting community justice when you can help people the way you do. thanks all. atb to you all chris

chris o
thanks wgd and dave cooper. its both your help and advice which have given me the result that i have had and i cant thank you enough. i am beating again on saturday on are normal shoot day. going to see if i can stand with the guns and do more picking up with him as he will bring it back but he likes to parade infront of me for a few seconds then brings to hand so i want to work on this and get him used to any that are flapping about on the floor to build his confidence up he retrieved one that was like this but he was a bit unsure but still brought it back and it didnt bother him as he went on to retrieve a hen and a duck that was really well hidden. chris o
on the shoot again today with the dog and he did very well again not aswell as wensday but he still worked well and made me very proud. he worked the ground well apart from on one of the drives known as jonathans strip which is a very difficult drive he still worked it though. he put up 19 pheasant a duck and a couple of partridge. no retrieves though today. but still very well he ran in on one pheasant a quick sharp correction stopped it happening again though. thanks again wgd and dave cooper. davecooper1
Chris thats ok mate, just keep on top of him and he will be sound. Mine wasnt fireing on all cylinders today, but did some good retrieves, as I shot a few pheasants today. Dave.
WGD
Well done chris, as DC says keep on top of him though - they soon learn shoot day is a license to please themselves if you don't. I've got one like that just now, can shoot over myself and she's on the money but realistically too hot for the beating line. Great retriever though... fancy a swap
