ade wills
after shooting under the lamp for years i,m thinking about taking the night vision route ,i only use my cz hmr at night ,so i fancy dedicated in the form of a yukon sentinal either 2 or 3 mag plus a doubler, i usually shoot at 6 times mag ,anyone got one of these on a hmr? , had any problems with the sentinal ,all comments appreciated
kevinbird
hi aid, i have used the sentinal in the past but i have now changed to a pulsar digital night sight. the sentinal i had was a gen 1+ and the range was about 80 yards max although you could see the eyes at a much further range. no problems with the sight at all apart from its limitations. the pulsar is no good at all during the day as the view is very poor but at night it is astounding. i have my sights mounted on a cz american 17 and shoot rabits out to 150 yards in the pitch black with excelent recognition. before you buy take a look at the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 and also have a look at digital sights as they are improving all the time and they cost less than their counterparts. just one word of warning about digital sights "you have to get used to them" . kev
steve_b_wales
Another option is the Cobra Merlin NV with added day scope adaptor. I use one on a 22-250 and a .243. It only works with a parallax adjustabe scope, but will fit most makes. The advantage of this is that you can add this on to any rifle you choose. For added IR 'light', I use a Blaserlite lamp, fitted with an IR filter. This is clamped onto my scope, and when switched on, I can clearly identify quarry at 150+yards. ade wills
thanks steve and kev i was beginning to wonder if anyone would reply ,i,m really torn between add on or dedicated ,i,ve swung between the merlin cobra as an add on or the pulsar gs 2x50 used with a doubler ,both used in conjunction with n1000 laser for extra illumination ,at present i,m using a bushnell elite 4200 with front pa ,so if i went for an add on it means investing in new optics ,i,ve only been using the hmr for night use (rabbit and fox) range 50-80 yards ,i started off thinking about spending 300 ish 2nd hand and before you know it my stash has crept up ,i,ve had lots of offers from yorkshire to look through their nite vision ,but ideally if anyone has a set up i could look through in the midlands this would be most appreciated cheers ade

Plus, as it's fitted at the back of your scope, you can use whatever magnification the scope has. My mate Digit and I bought a Cobra the same time, after looking at different options. We are both impressed with it.
