Spaniel
More like Carryon Ducky Decided that we would have a trip to the Frampton marsh yesterday for an evening shoot. Sundays we can not shoot between 10am and 4pm so got there approx at 2.30 to give us plenty of time to sort ourselves out etc. The Temp was about -1.5 when we arrived and the splash was frozen, but after a bit of work we managed to get a handful of decoys out. There seem to be plenty of activity about, I could see Geese, Mallards and Wigeon all flying around, which as always is a very nice sight to see. About 3ish I started to hear the Wigeons calling, "Promising" and it was not long until we spotted them coming in and landing about 40 yds from us.....i(t was like Pigeons coming in on the feed), they were just dropping in one after another and taking no notice of us what so ever... We had groups of Wigeon flying all up and down the foreshore and around us, to be honest I have never seen this many in one go on the marsh, the sky was full of them.. Even the sun popped out to say hello, which actually gave us a bit of warmth as by now the temp was dropping and the my toes although nicely wrapped up in my 2.5 toggle fur socks were beginning to get cold. At last the magic 4pm time came and we sat down for an evening to remember.....well we sat there until 6pm without firing a shot With all those hundreds of Wigeons we had around us in the afternoon, come 4pm their alarm clocks must of been set and they all flew away, the only activity we had was 1 Mallard quacking as it flew over us, sounded pretty dam close but we could not even spot it. So a fantastic experience, Cold toes as the temp dropped to -5 and no shots fired, cant wait until next time
