Franchi Harrier vs Browning Medalist

I've been shooting occasionally on my folk's farm and am now moving close so considering getting my own shotgun. It will be used for rough shooting pheasants, occasional clay shooting and some pigeon shooting. I'm thinking about spending £400-£600 and currently looking at a Franchi Harrier or Browning Medalist. From what I've seen and heard and tried (I've been to several gun shops to get advice and try out some guns) I get the feeling that they're both probably perfectly good guns. Any thoughts or other good suggestions.

Any thoughts most appreciated.

hello mate, i personally dont rate the franchi guns. My mates got a semi raptor and its got nothing on a berreta semi of the same value. I had a browning 425 for my first gun and altough it was a bit on the weighty side its was a cracker. Used it for all sorts of shooting rough and clays. Brilliant.

Like the previous post said you wont go far wrong with the browning name tag and any extra outlay for a good one will be recovered when you sell it. The medalist looks a good gun and i am now trying to find one in a twenty bore as a spare toy for me and something my better half can use. Definately make sure the gun fits you as it wouldnt matter if your using a hundred year old baikal or a brand new purdey, if it dont fit your not gonna hit anything

hmm The Medallist isn't a Browning its a FIAS (and having shot a 12 bore Medallist its not a a patch on the 525), and the Raptor is not a Harrier or Falconet, The Falconet is very highly rated as a lightweight gun. If you can find a Browning Lightweight game gun its another option, I would Rate the Franchi Harrier as better than the MEdalist (both will be fien occasional guns but if your going to shoot alot you may want to go Berretta Ultralight/ 525 lightweight but they come at a price.
