as above but they are very hardy and dont take much looking after just routine maintenance, my dad has a m reg shogun 2.5 td intercooler 118,000 still going strong and has pulled stock trailer to market all its life i have done what little servicing it has had myself easy to work on etc. only real problems has been rusty fuel lines easy to replace and sticky calipers but the brakes probebly dew to lack of maintenance(highly recomended))

cheers kirky

the mitsi dealers now stock 99% of genuine pajero parts so parts are not really a problem

the 2.5 is a little numb for my liking and i got on better with the 2.8 in my shogun

the problem you will have is that the pajero's normally come fully loaded and things like air con will eat your fuel on journeys

in my 2.5 i could get around 26 mpg just plodding with a bit of motorway thrown in but when i put the aircon on in summer that dropped to 23

in the shogun i got after that it did 24 on average and 22 when using air con

dont believe the hype about the pajero engine being made to do only 50k !! my mates have the pajero and one of them is coming up to 225k (miles)

make sure the speedo is in miles (although the miles done may be in klm) and check the log book to make sure it all coresponds! as for the bodywork and floorpan etc i would not expect to see much rust even in a 10 yr old car

check underneath for any off road abuse and most importantly check every gear and the 4wd and in reverse ! there should be no clunk into 4 wheel drive and definatly no clunk or bangs while driving
