kyska
Guys any help would be appreciated. I've got major pigeon assualt on the rape, I've not seen flocks like it before, but I just can't get them to commit to the decoys. I've tried over the weekend Static decoys Decoys on wobbler pegs Bouncers with full bodied winged deeks Cradles with the same Mixture of all of them The pigeons are up, in big flocks and as many have experienced, too high up and just circling, then back into trees. I can see them on other fields so we've tried moving, and they settle in a field we're not in. My last chance is to try the magnet now I got it working properly this morning after a bit of diy electrics. Any advise on decoy patterns, to include or not the magnet? Its seriously driving me mad. adam f
I hear your pain!! See my post in the pigeon section. We were out yesterday and had exactly the same situation. The best we could do was take on the lower of the high birds - but these were still on the limit... I had 1 single bird commit all day, and typically it was just as I got the flask out! We must have seen 10,000 birds during the day! I dont have the answer though I'm afriad!
kyska
Cheers Adam, well I've been to the pub and have rallied 10 guns, were going to try decoys on the two further fields and the try and line shoot them and keep them moving. TJ91
could you get the guns spread around the roosting sites and try get a few as they come to roost? usually makes for better bags than decoying during the winter (well it does in this area!) As many decoys as possible with plenty of movement should be the key to success Good Luck
chrispti
You need to be using 50+ decoys on sticks plus adding any shot birds, keep the rotary away from the decoys but so the birds can see it Still, this time of the year they are notoriously difficult to decoy A team of guns and/or banger ropes also help Edited December 19, 2010 by chrispti
