njc110381
Have a look at how they do the porting of trap gun barrels, I don't know slot about this sort of thing but if the outer tube almost rested on to top of the original barrel and you potted the sides and bottom of the barrel you could maintain the sight plain of the original rib. Using plas wad carts should prevent shot escaping into the baffles as would using holes smaller than shot sizes used, no6? I think the shot is going forwards at such a pace that it doesn't seem to find it's way through. Hushpower in fact suggest that the fibre wad is better because as sitsinhedges pointed out they can get the petals jammed in the holes. I've used both in my .410 and it's been fine but I have checked after each shot when using plastic. I think the way forward is to do lots of drilling and see what happens. The gun I'm now looking at is £25 so if it goes wrong I guess I'll just have to dispose of it and try again!
Paddy Galore!
hi niel, i made a removable mod for my benelli, fixed 3mm walled 25mmO/D s/s tube to an extended choke, made up some plates and packed it with fine fibreglass mat, had a small problem with the outer wall as it was too thin. Mungler has the contraption now, or did when he bought the benelli off me, which was being modified and thinned down, the finished dimensions were 75mm O/D, and about 300mm long, the barrel of the moderator was offset so as not to block out the view down the barrel. might be an option other than risk ruining a barrel? njc110381
That's certainly something I could look at in the future. For now though the shotgun I plan to adapt is cheaper than a choke tube so if I do ruin it then it really doesn't matter. How did the screw in mod work? Any good? Any good? yep, worked a treat, needed some R&D tho hence why i had it trimmed down in size. Although i probably won't do anything like it again it was good to see one of my plans come to fruition, i think that hushpower have the niche in the market for this kind of thing Edited December 28, 2010 by GRAM71

njc110381
Could be worth a look. They're just up the road from me. I would quite like to make it myself for the challenge of it but it could be a good place to source materials. Thanks
