berties
HI guys went beating thursday with my springer bitch, ever since her one eye has been half closed and weepy can't see anything in there any ideas what to do,don,t really want to call a vet out on new years day My old springer only went to the vets twice and once was with a infected eye ,she has probally scratch the surface of the Eye which then gets prone to infection, she will need drops, keep it bathed and keep a eye on it but she will need a trip to the vets,it's always worth a call to see if the vet can advise or maybe he is there on another case to dipense the drops Have a happy new year
Jurrasicway
This happened exactly the same to me on Wednesday. After beating woke up and fed my lab Archie. His eye was swollen. Searched this site and read a post that said leave for 24 hours and bath frequently in salt water (the eye not the dog lol) Did exactly that and the eye went down. No problem now and saved vet costs. If it does not improve go straight to the vet. Good luck....
apache
Scratches to the surface of the eye are common in working dogs, the only way to revel this is a special dye applied by your vet. If it's not cleared up in 48 hours then a trip to the vet is needed. You know yourself how painful a tiny bit of grit in the eye can be.
