M ROBSON Posted February 20, 2006 Report Share Posted February 20, 2006 It depends on what you mean by powerful. You can get 28 grams of homeloaded steel in a 2.75" case doing 1800fps. The problem is it slows down very quickly. Or you can get 66 grams of lead in a 3.5" case but that will only do 1200fps max. I sometimes load 56 grams of Hevishot in a 3.5" case doing 1225fps.
