eagershooter
Hi I've got around 3 acores of land and I was wandering if it's big enough to dig a pond and have around 150 ducks and have a small duck shoot
dodeer
Yes it be fine. I'd dig a few small ponds and have plenty of trees and bushes on the banks planted. If you live in a good area for wildfowl then i'd not bother releasing any as there find new water quickly.
eagershooter
How big should the ponds be & should they have islands
poontang
I wouldn't have thought 3 acres was anywhere near enough land, your shot will fall way outside your boundries.
Swamp Beast
How big should the ponds be & should they have islands have a look on BASc`s web site and search pond design. Some good info there. Depending on lay out of your 3 acres and location you might be tight for shot landing on neighbouring land unless of course they dont mind. Good luck
farmerjohn
i think you will need to secure the shooting on your neighbouring land if you want to make a go of it three acres is not big enough on its own cheers john
TJ91
the main problem if you dont get the shooting rights on neighbouring land, you may have 100s of ducks flighting to the pond(s) but there maybe some guns lined up on the neighbouring field blowing them out of the sky before they cross onto you rland had it happen before if you have a flight pond you want to own a good bit of land all around it so if you do get any cheeky beggers trying to get them on the boundary flying over, they will be too high Edited January 10, 2011 by TJ91
