casts_by_fly
the Hunter is normally the same as the Al-48. They are aluminum framed guns, light weight for carrying nicely. The spec will vary depending on the specific model. My AL-48 delux is 2 3/4" only, but some are magnums for 3". For the right price I'd have another one as a beater. vole
They are long recoil operated , not gas so you do not have the gas ports to clean . I cant remember if mine was steel proofed , dont think it was .
casts_by_fly
no steel for me, but it is more of an upland model. normal cleaning is easy. Barrel pops off easy enough. Wipe down mag tube and spring, light coat of oil, back together. No gas ports, no tiny bits. Mine sat for 10 years with original factory grease and dust, so it needed a thorough clean (pulled bolt and trigger group, soaked action minus wood) which was more involved. Normally you wouldn't need to do all that. thanks rick
