invector
It's also illegal to shoot game on Xmas day! It is illegal to shoot all game species, common snipe and woodcock without a game licence. Exception for hares: You do not require a game licence to shoot hares, provided that you are shooting on land where you are the owner (having the right to kill game), occupier or a person duly authorised in writing under the provisions of either the Hares Act 1848 or the Ground Game Acts. Only one person can be so authorised and must be either: 1. A member of the occupier's household residence on the land. 2. A person in the occupier's ordinary service on the land. 3. A person genuinely employed for reward to kill and take hares and rabbits on the land. Reward does not mean money, as keeping the hares, or rabbits so killed, constitutes a reward. Just as a warning to those who don't take out a game licence there are many people other than the police who are quite at liberty to ask to see your licence and these include any other person who has a game licence! You can't shoot game at night. Edit: The bit about Xmas day was being typed at the same time as Gemini!! Lord Geordie
If shooting Canadian geese be VERY careful and be damn sure you can identify the bird BEFORE you take a shot as if what you shoot AINT a canadian goose and your out of season then you will be in a world of hurt if caught I don't like the idea of Air rifles being used against Geese either it should be Shotgun with #1 shot or BB end of!! DaveK
So you wouldn't consider the humane dispatch using .22rf or .17hmr. A headshot on a canada is no problem to an experienced shooter and probably more certain than a shotgun which may not hit a vital point. At least with a rifle you're aiming at an exact target for an instant kill. So maybe its not so cut and dried as you think. Dave
