Used Air Rifles in sales

Don't read this if you are of a nervous or delicate disposition, or think the world owes you!

Perhaps I am getting old but as far as I'm concerned we live in a pathetic nanny state with very few willing to take responsibility for their own actions/mistakes.

I didn't know, nobody told me/why didn't someone tell me, it isn't my fault, how was I meant to know...

...... grow some balls, make a decision and live with it,...... climb a tree, play conkers, ice skate on the pond, every now and again you may actually have fun and survive, and so what if you spent over the odds on something, you learned the lesson yourself and will remember the next time...without someone having to tell you!!

Rant over!

ATB!!

Good post and I agree completely. Obviously there are those who will try to take the pee with second hand prices but frankly, if you don't like it then you don't have to buy it; I reckon that a sellers price is their business and stupidly high prices generally result in little interest/no sale anyway.

I think one of the problems (certainly where air rifles are concerned) are the fairly recent price hikes. For example, a couple of years ago I bought a brand new HW100K for around £550. They are now sold for around £760 when new but if looked after there would be little way of telling if I'd bought mine at the higher or lower 'new' price. Obviously it'd be bloody cheeky of me to advertise it at £550 now but I don't doubt that some folk are doing it, i.e. selling older guns at newer prices.

As always it's buyer beware. We are all (supposedly) adults capable of rational decision making so do a bit of research and don't get bitten. It's not rocket science, is it? ;)

Guns like most other things are a commodity. There is no harm in making a profit on a gun you have owned and enjoyed. If the price of a new one goes up, so does your second hand one accordingly.

TBH if someone comes on here offering a gun worth £1000 for £250 and it's legal why not buy it and resell it? I do so on ebay quite often.

Nothing wrong with making a profit at all, so longer as buyer and seller are happy with the deal. That said, I sold my HW100K for less than I bought it and prior to the massive price rise. Personally I'm not sure I could've adverstised it to make a profit anyway; I can understand the price of classic guns going up, or making a bit if you'd originally bought it at an absolute bargain price but not really with 'current' rifles. Maybe I'm just too 'honest' for my own good... ;):innocent:

Like I said though, it all comes down to the choice of buyers and sellers.

I bought a HW98 for £140, cleaned it up, serviced it and gave it a new spring (it was shooting at 7 ft/lb) and after a couple of years I sold it (through a shop) for £245 which enabled me to buy a pcp. I saw it as a way of moving up a notch but some folks do it as a bit of extra cash in their pocket - and no one can blame them for that.
