  1. What the flip were you shooting, a rail gun??!!
  2. 190 bar is too high a fill. Try a 160 bar fill and run it over the chrony again.
  3. A regulated rifle has a set amount of air each shot. So a heavier pellet will go slower as it's using the same amount of air as the lighter pellets. When shooting an unregulated rifle you are essentially 'dipping' into the main reservoir, which results in higher back pressure/ valve dwell time etc resulting in higher Ftlb.
  4. . A .25 JSB King at 47ftlb is leaving the barrel around 900fps, optimum speed for a Diablo design pellet. Your .22 at 28ftlb using a Bis' Mag' is probably a bit slower (haven't got CG installed at the mo' so I can't crunch the .22 numbers) So how did you see such a difference? A .25 putting out 80ftlb (your mates gun) with a commercial pellet(unless using those useless Eun Jins) would be shooting it so fast as to make it totally unstable and very inaccurate.
  5. At FAC power they are devastating, and no 'rainbow' trajectory. Bigger kill zone. H&N Baracuda or JSB Kings usually work well in most barrels, especially the Kings(basically a .25 version of an AA Field or JSB Exact) and they are readily available.
  6. Save yourself the hassle and get a 2nd hand NV unit.
  7. May be a little heavy for him if he's a wee Chap. You won't go wrong with an AirArms S200 as previously said. As accurate as any other AirArms rifle, short pull and light.

    .22 pellet

I fear the Pile of cack Drivers will go the same way...
  9. Don't forget. Must speak to BOB/R like robot Otherwise no response will be had Leave out normal speech. I am a Dalek.....
  10. I think what Bruno is saying is you should take any review in a magazine or sponsored supported website with a pinch of salt. If your magazine or website has revenue generated by producers then it kind of behooves said mag/website to give them favourable reviews to ensure continued support/advertising. The ONLY reviews I give time to are those that have no ties or reliance on the producer.

    FAC .20

JSB Kings are readily avalible which seem to do well in most barrels. They are basically the JSB Exact/AA fields in .25 cal.
  12. Could be that with the mod' it's effectively increasing the length of the barrel/usable air and hence increasing the speed of the pellet. Unusual though.
  13. As with any calibre, you need to know your holdover/under for a given range. Around 50ftlb is perfectly sufficient in .25 cal' to see you taking rabbits out to 100 yards. Nice thing about a .25 is you can go for a good body shot, not just a headshot. Again, you need to know your scope and holdover obviously. That comes with going out in the field and placing cards at 10 yard intervals and marking down your holdovers. A rifle with a decent bottle is a must, a tube rifle will definitely restrict your shot count. A decent length barrel will utilise your air better (24" is a good place to be) Wind drift is what it is. A .25 calibre pellet (JSB King is a very good pellet) will buck the wind better than a .22 but that is offset some by the fact is has a larger surface area. But overall it does better. H&N Baracuda is a heavier pellet again but generally not as accurate as the King when shooting 60 odd yards plus. Then you have the Junjins, heavy beasties but you'll be lucky to find a barrel that likes them. Plus they are a little oversized. And really to shoot out that far with good accuracy, you really need it regulated.
  14. Yes there is alternative ammunition for the lr, but who wants to re-zero every time they want to do some tree shooting. And as for shotshells I don't think I've ever heard of any one having any joy with those? And let's face it, shooting stuff in trees is a good excuse to buy another gun.... And as for accuracy, yeah, that will always be open to debate of course. A half decent lr with a semi competent shooter can shoot a tight group at 50 yards, but beyond?.... That's not to say you won't get the exception but I'll maintain that a good FAC air rifle with the right pellet etc will out shoot an lr at the longer ranges.
  15. Why would you choose FAC Air over .22lr? Simple. It's more accurate. As long as you stay within the boundaries of the projectile's performance. .22 lr is good out to what, 100 yards? Maybe a little further. And what can you put on paper at that range with a .22lr? Around an inch? Fac air using a good quality Diablo pellet will print sub 1 inch at 100 yards. Especially with .25 calibre. Oh I know, lots of people on here will say FAC air is only good out to 50 or 60 yards. Sorry, that's nonsense. Either they can't shoot that far, or more likely, they haven't tried. Plus of course the terminal range of a pellet is a lot less than that of a bullet, which makes it suitable for tree shooting( given a decent amount of area behind of course) Horses for courses as always. You can't beat the knockdown power of a.22lr shunting a subsonic 40 grain hollownose at 1000fps. But you also can't beat a FAC air pushing a 21-31 grain pellet at pinpoint accuracy. You take yer choices.
  16. Over 900 is the speed things start to go south. There is the odd exception where you can push it out to around 1000fps, but 95% of the time 900 is the top end. You should be looking for around 850-900 fps for optimum speed/power/accuracy. And as to your original question re: .25, yes go to .25 cal for extra power. Obviously pushing a .25 cal pellet of 25-30 grains at a stable 900fps will be giving you more downrange energy than a .22 cal 21 grain pellet would be at the same stable speed.
  17. It's not really a case of at what ftlb of power a rifle will lose accuracy, it's to do with the projectile speed and design of the projectile. Your rifle may produce 30ftlb with an 18grain JSB Diablo pellet at an fps of 900 which is accurate. Now use a 16grain JSB Diablo pellet producing 30 ftlb at a 1000fps and you lose all accuracy. Try to forget ftlb output as an indicator of accuracy and think about the speed of the pellet instead.
  18. ***, what would you use then? Let me guess. Only a .22 LR using high velocity expanding round. Or maybe a .223 Cf? 'Cos it's a bit bigger than an average buck and looks a bit different? What the hell is wrong with taking a Hare with a headshot with a .177 sub 12ftlb pellet as opposed to taking a large rabbit with the same pellet? Flupping people with this mentality that game has to be taking with a round that will turn them inside out.......
  19. Nowt wrong with shooting Hares if they're for the pot.
  20. It's an airgun PART, FAC doesn't come into the equation until it's mated with a frame and barrel. As to the OP's question, yes, would need a UK valve instead of the Condor one to make it sub 12 ftlb.( I think?!)
  21. I think that was in English?
  22. Just out of interest, how old are you stoogey?
  23. The first one if it hits you makes you say ouch if it hits bare skin. The second one if it hits you requires medical attention to remove lead from your flesh.
