Blackpowder
I have just processed my brace of pheasants from Saturdays shoot, something unusual about the hen when plucking it, but all was revealed when cutting began. Instead of the usual clean feeder wheat this bird had been gorging on larvae/ maggots which appeared to be those of the cow dung fly- the crop must have contained hundreds of these. Also, while most pheasants have large yellow fat deposits around the vent and in the body cavity, this one was only lightly so, a wild bird living wild? There were plenty filled feeders throughout the shoot so this bird had dined away by choice. Blackpowder
