spencer
Hi, As a relatively new shooter, I have just acquired my first semi auto - a Breda which can accomodate external chokes... My other guns all have fixed chokes so this is a little new to me! So... chokes.... sell me the benefits!!! (If any) Cheers
HDAV
What are you shooting? Clays? Game? Vermin? Chokes can screw with your mind its the combination of cartridge and choke that gives you a pattern you want a reliable pattern for your target be it Clay or Feather.... many people say stick to 1/2 or 1/4 for most but it depends on the cartridges and 2 of the same loads from different manufacturers can pattern very differently through the same choke! Scully
If it's the old Breda(looks a bit like the old Browning A5(?),then I use to have one.I only had one choke with mine.If you want cylinder, just shoot without any choke attached. If you're shooting rough/pigeons/corvids or rabbits just stick on 1/4 or 1/2 and forget about them.Honestly.Chokes do not make it easier to hit things, put the pattern in the right place and then you'll hit things whatever choke you have in.Enjoy yourself. spencer
so basically I should forget about a choke, shoot without one and just enjoy hitting clays?
MAL S
never shoot without a choke in a multi choke gun you can loose a hand
HDAV
If its sporting clays stick 1/4 in, for skeet use cylinder or skeet, DTL/ABT 3/4 and be done............. one thing with a MC gun is check the chokes aren't working loose over time, if they start working loose and you don't notice the choke can be blown out stripping the thread.
