Jimmer
I'm getting an 8 week old spaniel on saturday and as its my first gundog, i think a dvd would help me in the basic and intermeadiate training. I'll be honest i've got no idea but just think seeing what to do rather than just reading instructions can only help me more. Can anybody reccomend a dvd for a novice trainer of a spaniel, i don't want to trial him just want to control him on a shoot and be proud to say that i trained him. Any help much appreciated. pegleg31
Personally i'd save your money and when your dog is old enough (6/9 mths) book a lesson with a pro trainer.Until then take your pup to socialising/obediance classes
Tom&Dexter
I would get the David lisett DVDs get him socialized and start the basics and bonding the day you get him.
WGD
I would do both of the above, watch the DL series until it's coming out your ears, and Edward Martins and Simon Tyers (Hawcroft) to give varying handlers opinions. But your dog is your dog and won't fit the mould of any you see on a DVD, that's where a pro or experienced trainer will be able to point you in the right direction if you are in need of help reading your dog as he matures. Best of luck, and good choice of dog
