Yes as above, my springer had the same, stinking ears and brown discharge, a swab was taken and it indeed infested with ear mite, a couple off weeks treatment and he hasnt looked back. apache
A recurring problem could be sign of an underlying problem such as an allergy. Are you going along to the vet and having the ear examined or just ringing up for more treatment? You could always ask for referral to a dermatologist. Do you keep the ears clean? Trimming hair from below the ears can help ventilation.
helenthomas
Hi Mike, it could well be an allergy to something. Had exactly the same with my Wire. Canaural, Surolan etc all cure for a short time and then back it came. I spent a fortune trying to deal with it. She would make them bleed by scratching them regularly. Purely by chance I changed her food from a raw diet to Challenge Performance Complete and have never looked back. She is definitely allergic to several types of meat and the new diet is fish and Potato. Have you tried swapping to a hypoallergenic food type? Since changing food, I clean them regularly with wipes and we have no problem - a massive breakthrough for us. Good luck with this, I know it can be a major pain. Helen. masmiffy
Years ago my godfather used to have springers. He was given a 'recipe' for ear treatment from an old style chemist. Mix was Tetmasol and peroxide (cant remember the actual mix tho!!) The used this on a regular basis and never had any ear problems with his dogs!!
