ack-ack
Myself and shooting partner have had a couple of decent sessions recently and our freezers are now at full capacity. As the sport is half the deal and crop protection is the other half we are olbliged to keep on shooting his permissions especially over the next few critical weeks as the recently drilled crops establish. I cant spend a day shooting and sling it all in the hedge at the end, its just not my bag. I give as many as possible away but they have to be oven ready and I can only do 10 birds an hour max. I'm toying with the idea of a building a game chiller so that I can process over a longer period rather than rushing to get them clean and in the freezer before they spoil. Even if I do I will still be faced with having a freezer with untold numbers of pigeon in it. I love eating it but twice a week is the max I can tolerate. Is there anybody in the South Kent area that takes birds in the feather? I'm not after making mega bucks I just dont want to be wasting birds and want to be covering my shells, diesel and perhaps getting a pint of Mild out of it. Suggestions welcome

MK38
Used to use these guys... Necci Game Meadowlark Cottage, Pristling Lane, Staplehurst, Tonbridge, Kent TN12 0HH 01580 891602 They were good to deal with, and took either fresh or frozen in feather.... don't know what they pay now. The brothers also did a bit of crop protection and pest/fox control as well and were very good shots. Dave
Cosd
If you're taking feathers off to give them away, why don't you crown them instead? Takes about 30 seconds to crown a pigeon, I'm sure someone will be kind enough to get you a link to the video on utube. I'm off to play football now, if someone hasn't posted the link I'll do it later

The last 30 birds I had to crown just to fit them in the freezer.
