Lightforce problem

Having a problem with my Lightforce lamp/battery connection.

 

The lamp works fine, plugs into cigarette lighter in truck and works no problem.

 

Connecting lead from battery (Deben 17Ah lead acid) to cigarette socket thing looks fine and I have changed the fuse so the fuse is def ok. But no power is getting from battery to light.

 

I had a problem with the charger, it was rattling/buzzing when charging (Deben charger as sold with battery). Although it is still getting to the point where the green light shows the battery fully charged (at which point the rattling stops). I got a replacement charger - same noise.

 

So the problem is either the battery itself, or the socket to plug the lamp into. Anyone else experienced the rattling charger syndrome? Don't want to start cutting cables to hard wire lamp to battery if battery is goosed, but have a problem fox to deal with tonight :/

Hi,

On the grounds that they vary, does your charger have a cigar lighter plug which obviously would mate with the battery socket when charging? Excluding the battery, you've eliminated all components other than the battery socket. A flat (or worn out) battery, yes, but duff, unlikely. The battery socket should come apart for a shufti. Just be careful which half you rotate to avoid twisting the wires and detaching the solder (which may turn out to be a screw but you won't know until it's apart).

Hi, the lead from the battery is the fused bullet type - like this:

This then either connects to the charger or to another bullet lead on the other end of which is the female socket for the cigarette lighter style plug from the lamp - if that makes sense!

Perfect sense. That is the variation I had in mind and as such my point is useless. Sorry. Sounds like a job for someone with an AVO.

Battery is only just over a year old, has not been run flat, kept topped up and not actually been used that much because my mate has a Li-Ion that we tend to use instead.

Amps, Volts and Ohms meter. On the other hand, with little or no use and if, as commonly provided, it's in a bag, check for flies,wasps or whatever! :P:lol:

you have got the live to live and neutral to neutral. Red is live neutral is black. the fuse you will need is a glass tubed one with a strip of metal inside it. have you taken the fuse out and checked that the brass ends inside are connected to both ends of the live going in the fuse holder and not come loose. have you checked that there are no breaks in any of the lines coming from the battery. the easyest way to do this is use a multi meter. failing that bend the cable on a sharp degree and you will soon see/tell if there is a break in the lines. this happens alot with the lightforce lamps near or inside the handle over a couple of years of regular use. Other than that i would try and test another lead acid battery setup but take all of your leads off of the battery thats nackard and put them onto a known working battery and if it still doesnt work then you know its a break or something like that in one of the leads going to the cartridge fuse holder or something like that. Failing all of this just get your lamp cut the end off bare the ends back so there is just copper and touch the ends onto each terminal of the battery you will have to do away with all that **** by that **** i mean the cartridge fuse holder they should just unplug off of each end. if you do bare them back and it doesnt work try them the other way round it should work. i dont have a fuse on mine ive just got a square deben connector you get on the end of the plug in fag lighter cut if off and wired it to the end of my lamp and dont the same to my batteries so i can switch and change in the car or on the batteries when walking around i will try and post a few pics so you know what i mean its much easyier.
