DonnyB
I need to travel down to Nevilles at Alfreton (from Doncaster) on Saturday and thought I would take the opportunity to visit a clay ground on the way back. Any suggestions??

Julesy
A vote for Nottingham & District from me - but I would say that because I work there! Seriously though - we are very lucky in Notts as there is a choice of grounds that all give a friendly welcome, why not try Cocketts and Nottingham & District, they are only 2 miles apart. J I believe I made enquiries at this one when myself and son Jamlad aged 11 years at the time were looking for lessons. Sadly we were told that he was too young to shoot shotguns as children below the age of 13 are too immature ?!?! We were not impressed and thankfully found a warm welcome at both the Cavendish in Mansfield and Cocketts Farm. Jamlad has now had some lessons and has his own Beretta. He shoots very well ( better than me to be honest) Regret that I would be very reluctant to try Nottingham and District when there is a friendly warm welcome nearby. Julesy
Hi Vinny, I am sorry that you have not had a positive experience and I am surprised to hear that as we have offer free membership to Under 16s and have members as young as 9 that shoot with us on a regular basis. I have only this week arranged some lessons for a 7 and 9 year old. Are you sure it was Nottingham & District that you enquired with? Our policy is not to specify an age as it really depends on the junior, how mature they are and what their build/strength is, we actively encourage junior shooters to come up and try a shot (at no charge) to see how they like it before their parents spend any money on lessons or equipment - by doing this we ensure that it will be money well spent. I would urge you to try Nottingham & District again, I can guarantee that you would receive a very warm welcome. Nottingham & District is at Far Baulker Farm at the top of the drive on the left. I hope you will give us another chance. Kindest regards Julia
Vinny v
Hi Julia, Thankyou for taking the time to respond to our previous comment with regards to Nottingham and District. I believe we do have the right club and if memory serves me well it also advertises tank driving and other activities. If we have the wrong club then I whole heartedly apologise. They were the first club we visited when looking and we spoke to middle aged gentleman. His response was that Jamlad could watch me shoot until he was 13 years old. We appreciate your comments and next time we are up that way we will take the time to pop in and say hello. Many thanks V
