Villager
Hi this is my first post and a bit of a silly question, sorry! Found a Skelton of an old fallow buck whilst walking to my mates yesterday, have never been in this part of the woodland before, it seams to be the only place were no one on the farm goes. Anyway I picked up a decent sized fallow bucks head with both antlers. All the flesh has gone but the colouring of the antlers is absolutely perfect, however the woodland is fairly damp and the antlers have a slightly green colouring (Algae or moss I guess). I brought them home and gave them a good scrub with a stiff brush and this has removed most of the green colouring, however some still remains. Is there anyway I can remove all this green colouring without losing the colouration in the antlers through bleaching ect. I have only ever prepared heads that have been freshly shot but these are truly great set and id like to see them look there best. Would using a cleaning product without bleach work? the pelt man
Try a mild detergent in warm water & very fine wire wool. But do try in a small area out of view to make sure it works ok. The Pelt Man
