mushty111
ive just purchased a secondhand browning medallist.. :( only i noticed the other day after i'd cleaned it that when it's snap caps are in and the firing pins are resting on them, there is a rattle coming from the chamber area somewhere. any ideas?, :o

mushty111
oh right, :*) thought they would have been pinched up tight by the pins, ok i'll have a shake next time its out without the caps. thanks.
dunganick
certainly several of my guns rattle with the snap caps in. But like you say, best to check again without them in.
Lord Geordie
Once your pins strike the cap they retreat as they are spring loaded so it is most likely as Dunganick said and simply the snapcaps LG
wacker
I think this is normal, as when i have put the snap caps in, fired the hammers off, and removed the fore end to take the barrels off to clean them, and replaced the barrels with rested hammers & no snapcaps, the action will rattle, but won't when the action is cocked. Maybe the workings rattle a bit, when they are not in tension. Edited April 6, 2006 by wacker
mushty111
thanks wacker that makes a bit of sense as ive only ever noticed the rattle while the actions are at rest, ive never tried it while its cocked. excellent cheers steve
