oscarsdad
Just been out on golf course, must have seen 35 bunnies. Shot at six and only got one! I think it is shooting off the bipod makes me too complacent so I don't concentrate properly-the one I did get (soon to be bunny burgers) was a perfect headshot 30yds and standing! I think I may remove the bipod from my rifle! Anthony
Frenchieboy
You say that shooting off the bipod might be making you complacent! Rather than getting rid of the bipod might it not be better to keep it on and go back to basics and find out exactly why you are missing them. If you are shooting well at 30 odd yards free standing then fine but what about the longer shots of say 75 yards plus, could you do those without a bipod? oscarsdad
I should have said it is only my ultra so sub 12ftlbs...75 yds would be a little optimistic but yes, I am going to go back to basics. I have not had it long and I think I am still getting used to how light it is and also the eye relief being different when using the bipod. Frenchieboy
I didn't realise it was a sub 12 ft/lb! Even so, if it were me before I dumped the bipod completely I would go back to basics and try to find where the problem was. You say that the eye relief is different and it is quite low, are you saying that the scope is lower to the gun or that the gun itself is lower than you are used to? Either way it sounds like you might need to work on your technique - Maybe try shooting from the kneeling position instead of the prone - At the ranges you are talking about this might make a difference for you. With an air gun, which let's face it is quite cheap to feed trying different shooting positions could well pay dividends for you. I'm not really into shooting air guns but I hope that this little bit might help you mate!
SimonT
Best thing I did was get rid of the bipod, as I found I lost a lot of shots due to looking for a suitable position. I shoot of sticks now and have done for the last year or so and I get so many more shots.
yankeedoodlepigeon
Is it a springer?
oscarsdad
Not a springer, BSA ultra PCP. I am going to go out again this evening but take my tx200 springer, which I am sure would have got me more bunnies than this new fangled PCP lol! I agree with the point about the bipod, I have lost a few bunnies by messing about getting a postion with the bipod whereas with the TX I would have already shot the rabbit! yankeedoodlepigeon
Check everything is tight and nothing is touching the barrel check zero again on paper practice at different ranges. Don't put bi-pod on springer unless you are only taking shots off bi-pod.
oscarsdad
No bipod on springer, I know they will ruin the accuracy due to the pellet leaving the barrel. I did check the zero whilst I was out last night and dead on at 35yds.... Nothing wrong with the rifle, just the muppet behind it!
