shoughton
Around my parts the pigeons appear to be totally focussed on the lucern at the moment - not interested in anything else. It's good shooting as the crop is fairly short (only cut about 2 or 3 weeks ago) and so the decoys stand out well and the shot birds are easy to find. Interestingly, of the 50 birds I've shot at various times over the last few days every single bird has an empty crop. They seem to be just grazing little and often and never building up a full crop. I've had a number of birds that must have been drinking just before shot - water pours from them as I lift them from the ground. I am getting good numbers as well at the moment.
