Lewis F
Hi every one, I've the past couple of weeks I have really been considering entering some field trials! But I am really confused how you get into it? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Lewis
WGD
Where about are you? Join the local gundog clubs to be informed of what's on and where, get along to a few trials to see what the standard is like and see if you and your dog are up to it. If you join the clubs the cost of entering a trial run by that club will be much less than entering on spec.

butcherboy
What type of dog have you got? There is plenty of clubs in Kent, though trialling means travel, travel & more travel!! Have you seen a trial? Do you know what standard your dog needs to be at? Find a local club for your breed , make contact & ask to go and carry the game at their next trial. pavman
Field trails are run under kennel club rules and are open to pedigree dogs of the right breed, once you are a member of a club that is running one you can submit a nomination form which is an application to run a dog in the trail. They make a draw of available places which is limited and you may (or may not) get drawn to run. They are split into novice and open dogs if you have an open class dog you have to prove it (such as winner of a novice one)most pro trainers are members of lots and lots of clubs and submit to most to try to get a run if they have a good dog. Below this are working tests (which i do) and just about all club members dogs will get a run so its a very good starting point to learn about what happens in such events. You can also make contacts and offer to help at trails such as game carrier etc and this will agaimn help your understanding and progress.
