TomV
Last week I noticed that the overflow pipe to my header tank was dripping (tank is in a difficult position so not a job I'd manage) so I called a plumber I know he came n said the ball valve was seized replaced the washer greased ball valve n refitted. However yesterday I noticed it was still dripping so I called him back and he replaced the valve today. I asked the first time was it nit better to replace the valve but he said the existing would fine. I paid £10 for the first visit and £30 to replace the valve today. Is this reasonable price to pay? HDAV
I know nothing about plumbing but to get anyone out for £10 seems cheap! Too cheap?

No it's not! It's ridiculous! Ridiculously cheap that is! I'd have charged that at £45/hour plus parts. That's pretty reasonable for the South East so you got an absolute bargain IMO>

Martin2
sounds a decent chap most would just replace the whole valve and charge you £70 plus vat ,he tried to save you money on the first call by repairing it ,you have not been done
TomV
I know £10 is dead cheap for a call out but today's replacement took exactly the same time I know a new ball valve is around the £10 mark so I suppose it's not too bad
