nick_c
Hello all, Looking to try some different grounds and I see there's 100 bird sporting at Horne this weekend. Anyone shoot at Horne clay club? Just wondering what people thought of it. Cheer's Nick.

Woodbepigeonshooter
Shoot at the Horne shoot maybe 5 or 6 times a year but not a member. Great shoot well organized and some testing targets ( but not too tough) I think it's £34 for 100 clays. Worth a visit
scuta
Hi, have shot off & on, for a good few years at the different Horne sites. The people who run it are a friendly bunch & tend to remember you even if you haven't been for months. The targets are set at what I would consider a decent intermediate level (have a look at the scores posted on their website) & against a nice backdrop. There's always a decent tea/burger wagon on site as well. For me there are a couple of niggles with the place; First, after a while the targets become a bit 'samey' I realise that they are limited by the topography but you tend to know what targets are going to be set on what stand. Second, the scorers tend to be young teenagers, some very good & attentive, others considerabley less so. Consequently scores can vary by a good few clays - I've seen 5/10 targets hit & 10/10 scored. This is frequently reported to & noted by the owners, but it's never changed in 10 years!
Hamster
Agree with the above, I especially dislike their pre-occupation with having utterly pants going away pairs in the exact same place everytime . I once tried tactfully to say it wasn`t such a good idea having a long slow incomer followed by a R/L quartering on no. 5 AND 6 stand . Personally I wouldn`t blame topography, it just needs someone who cares, it isn`t particularly cheap afterall, prizes are not the highest you`ll see either. The organisers are nice and friendly though as mentioned already and it has the advantage of very late last entry if you`re planning on doing a 2/3 shoot raid . Pete747
I'm a regular there and thoroughly enjoy it. Very welcoming and a good mix of targets. They have 2 sites that they alternate and to be honest my favourite is Gatton Bottom as the terrain is better and gives a better selection of targets using the trees etc. Digweed shoots there most weekends when he's not away in comps so he must approve of the layout etc. As it happens I'm not there tomorrow as I'm away for the weekend but if you want someone to go round with another weekend then give me a shout. jonnyoftheboy
used to get there fairly often, less so now. I like the shoot at Gatton Bottom, can't stand Court Farm though.
