Nice sized cub

Well haven't been out for a while, been too busy with the other hobby in my life, golf. Anyway I was getting too much stick so decided to put the clubs down and pick up the rifle and get out. Got to the permission about 11:30pm and had a nice slow drive round just to see what was what as the crop had grown so much since we last went we didn't know which bits we'd be able to get round. On the way round took a few rabbits for bait incase the fox wouldn't come into just the call. Well after a an hour or so we'd got about 8 rabbits and decided to find a good spot and see if we could call one in. Hadn't heard much activity while we were driving round but we knew they were there, so we put a few of the bunnies down and played the waiting game. Not a sniff until about 3am when I was rudely awaken by my mate to be told there was a cub about 50 yards away with one of the rabbits in it's mouth. By the time I'd woken up and got out and mounted the rifle on the bipod on the bonnet it had got a good 100 yards further away started calling it but it had other ideas and carried on. Managed to briefly get it to stop by giving it a load shout and that was all it took broad side on one shot one kill, dropped straight on the spot not even a flinch. Took it with some cheap as chips american eagle 223 55gr ammo I had. I was over the moon with this as we had been unlucky on a number of other occassions with the old sly foxes. We then drove to pick it up and heard a few barks in the distance and decided to stay see if we could pick up another one, spotted one off in the distance which was having none of it and turned its back and went to ground, could not call it in for all the tea in China. Anyway I was still buzzing from the cub earlier so decided to call it a day at about 4am. The cub was a decent size must have been an early one, unfortunately didn't spot the vixen as I would have prefered to take her instead then clear up the cubs at a later date. Oh well a good nights work and it made it up to the farmer who's field we'd covered in plastic wads the week before and not quite picked them all up , lesson learnt fibre wads from now on.
