I doubt that he could do much better than a TX 200 but thats only my opinion. :look:

Good advice, the TX200 is very well built and easier to shoot than many springers. The Weihrauch HW77 and HW97 are just as good. The HW80 is a very solid rifle that will last a lifetime, but in my opinion it has been overtaken by the underlevers in ease-of-shooting. On a peak oil forum where people are often asking for a rifle that will bag rabbits to help them survive a world financial collapse I always recommend the HW80, I reckon it would survive nuclear war.

I prefer 0.177, it's easier to hit the killzone due to flatter trajectory, although I'll admit .22 springers do have nicer, softer recoil which takes away some of the 0.177 advantage.

Stoeger, Smk synsg, xs 78/79(have to get tuned) There are plenty out there for your budget that will do your job. They are low end rifles but I'm sure the bunnies wont complain about being shot on a budget. There is no doubt that there are some lovely s/h rifles for twice your budget but don't discount the cheaper ones.

Another decent bunny bashing budget rifle is the Hatsan 55S or 60S, basically a Webley Stingray with a better safety catch. Same spring as the Stingray, same recoil absorbing system, same Walnut stock, same Walthar barrel, same trigger system, works great straight from the box! I know, I started again with one of these, owned it for over 2 years, when I sold it it was still making over 11 ft lbs. Why did I sell it? I knackered my elbows beach casting and a heavy day shooting used to leave me in agony from cocking the rifle, so had to go PCP for my arms sake...
