Misfire

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this is my first post so be gentle!

Wife's Miroku has done a couple of funny things lately. every now and again there is a delay after the trigger is pulled, not even a click. Anybody else had this? It happens on either barrel so not the pins. Have cleaned all moving parts and will try next week. Could be a trip to the gunsmiths me thinks!

Be very carefull with it saftey ecetera, what age is the gun, is it new or secondhand and how long have you had it.

If its not still under warranty whip the stock off and have a little look; if your not sure how to do this its gun smith time.

Probably the inertia block gunged up. Also, does the top lever feel slack? (easy to open gun?) When a Miroku becomes worn and loose, the top lever can rotate and partly throw the auto-safety on when in recoil; sometimes the gun can partially open and close on recoil! Take it to a gunsmith.

I'm an engineer, had the stock off and cleaned firing pins etc. which were covered in crud! Its a 6000 so probably about 25-30 years old. Its still nice and tight though. I was thinking about the saftey coming on after recoil, so have cleaned out all of the mechanism. Will give it a thorough testing this weekend. Failing that can anyone recomend a good gunsmith in East Sussex? :)

Just a follow up, got Tony Sorrell to have a look when he was at a local shoot to me, what a nice guy. Although he couldn't see anything obvious he did come up with some good suggestions. It could be the stock itself catching on the mechanism or the shooter ( in this case the wife! ) not releasing the trigger fully.

Hope this may help anyone with the same problem.

Cheers, Tonplus.

I had this problem with an mk38. The second barrel 'cocks' itself using the recoil of the first shot using, as previously said an inertia block. A local engineer who tinkers at guns sorted it out for me by polishing some part of the mechanism for me to make it operate more easily. Everyone else said i wasnt releasing my finger of the trigger but I got my wife to try it and it done the same with her.
