woody swacker
went out on recce all of last week in preparation for a hit on friday and saturday.all week things looked pretty quiet with just a single field of wheat stubble looking a little promising although i did nail 70 off it last sunday.so off i went on friday and to cut a long story short managed to scramble a bag of 33.come saturday thing were'nt really looking alot better and the mrs threatening to take me shopping!so i quikly jumped in the motor and away.i raced around my permissions and as in the week, and nothing looked good.on the way back home i pulled up in a gateway which hold a block of about 60 acres of cultivated rape stubble, which was dragged up straight after being cut.i,ve looked at this rape on several occasions over the last 2 weeks and never looked exciting.anyway i watched 3 woodies punt acrooss and drop down on the stubble, closer inspection and about 100 birds lifting off.RIGHT!!gained permission set up and straight away birds were coming through into the deeks.packed up at 4.30 with 112 in the bag.a epected quiet day come good. That's a good day, especially sweet when unexpected...well done. One of my farmers cut rape today, a good field that the pigeons have been on all year, only to tell me he is going to cultivate it straight away! Mind you, I reckon it will still be worth a go even if disced over.
