togger
I took my son & father in law onto one of my permissions this morning, although only two of us shooting. On arrival there were a hundred or so birds feeding on a freshly cut yesterday field. They obviously flew off as we drove onto the field. Half an hour later, hide set up, decoys out and then the waiting game began. We waited, then waited, then waited............! Eventually they started to fly over again, a couple came and landed between the decoys, which met an untimely end It then went really quiet again with only the odd bird flying over. We managed to bag half a dozen which are now in the freezer It was a bit annoying 'cos yesterday I had a drive up and had a chat with the farmer while they were cutting the field and there were hundreds even with the tractors driving about, so was hoping for a bigger bag, but hey ho, some are better than none. I might have a run up at first light tomorrow morning as we didn't get there till around 9am this morning so will aim to set up before they start to feed. I'll update you if we go, (pass out permitting as the wife is off tomorrow!!)
Cranfield
They do seem to get a bit excited at the sight of a combine, but then leave the field alone for a few days. They will be back.
jez28
Agreed, for some reason they seem to want to leave it alone for a bit, not sure why but???
