ShropshireCrowKiller
I'm looking into buying a new gun. Due to the amount of Pigeons im shooting I'm thinking of getting a semi-auto? Looking at either second hand Beretta/Browning or a new Winchester. Currently shooting a beretta Silver pigeon and its starting to show its age, so I thought I would save that for best (Pheasants because I don't think your allowed semi's on a shoot). Any Ideas on what to buy out of those 3?? or any other ideas?? Cheers all the breast

jackinbox99
Cant go wrong with a beretta AL391. Cracking guns. Hold their value really well, cycle anything from 21g light clay loads upwards. Nice, easy to handle, multichoke, easy to clean. Cant fault mine and ive put thousands of cartridges through it. Ideal for pigeons / clays / anything really!
mr salt
al 391 all the way. you wont want to sell it. for pigeon i use rc 30,31,32s or game bore clear pigeon 32 plastic wad. Rio cartridges (the blue ones that say 20 on them thou there 12 bore are shi* and will not pattern at all.) I have put some may cartridges though it and not one jam! ever! I have fired a few autos but for me the 391 handles so well you dont even think about the gun. cheers scott

chris t
yeah big fan of my AL391 also. Works greats, just need to put a little oil on the bolt area/bolt slides once in a while to keep it in peak cycling mode. Shot some great birds with it. Just love the fact that the gun hardly moves around when it goes off. Unlikely my O/U beretta (and all other O/U I have tried) This fact alone I'm sure has allowed me to improve my shooting no end. I just don't shoot the same when I get the O/U for a driven day's pheasant shooting. Also semi's are a dream to reload in the hide, just point it upwards and feed the carts in from the bottom and you can even keep an eye on the birds while your doing it.
