Finnish Double Puuko Knives?

Now that I am starting to get more into Deer Stalking and Culling I feel that the time has come to get a better knife than the ones that I am currently using. At the moment I have 2 Mora Clipper knives - One in Stainless Steel and one in Carbon Steel. I am quite happy with them and they have served me well but I feel that a new better quality knife is in order so as to have a "suitable tool for the job!

I have been looking at these Finnish Double Puuka Knives which look reasonably priced and want to know if anyone that has these feel that they are worth buying (Are they reasonable value for money, do they hold a good edge, etc) or if I should go for something different.

My budget would be restricted to around £50 to £60 so I can't think about a "top quality" knife costing upwards of three fugures even though I would love to have a really good quality hand made knife. Also, whatever knife you suggest could you suggest a suitable sharpening tool to go with it so that I can kep it in tip top condition please?

Your thoughts, advice and opinions would be much appreciated guys!

Edit: If you are giving a preference to any other knives please will you tell me what your reasons for that preference so that I can be "guided" towards the most suitable choice.

hi frenchie,

i've just bought two mora clipper knifes one in stainless one in carbon off sprindfields bushcraft site about £20 for the pair. cracking knifes for the money i would save your money and stick with them till you've saved up for the handmade one, i wouldn't think the deer will be too fussed what you use for now and they will do the job. but if you do want an upgrade they did have plenty of other knifes on there site in the bushcraft tools bit in that sort of budget which could be worth looking at.

ideally i would love a handforged blade but can't justify hundreds on a knife for gutting rabbits. i've just ordered a handmade knife off antlerman a little nsk knife and will hopefully be getting another larger one off him in the next few months. they'll be my 'best' knifes and i'll use the mora's for field knifes that way i won't cry if i lose them!

i'd look at karesuando knifes they tend to be in the £50-£100 bracket and are nice quality easy to sharpen or buck/gerber/crkt knife bit better quality but you pay a little more for it.

hope you get sorted mate
