hammerofthor
Thought I would share this, tried two different 40gr subsonic HP rounds in my Sako Finnfire Varmint. Winchester on left Eley on right at 25m Now at 50m, the rifle moved for the bottom left shot on the Eleys so I discounted that shot. Group size at 50m was 21mm for Winchester and 16mm for Eley. Frenchieboy
That's not too bad. Have you tried any other types of ammunition yet? I have just mounted and zeroed a set of scopes (Tasco World Class 3-9X50) on a Browning .22LR Pumper that a friend gave in exchange for helping him with a web site design. This is what I got with a group of 10 using Remington 38g Subsonics firing off the bonet of my car without a bipod @ 55 reasonable sized paces. (Near enough 50 yards) with a moderate right to left wind blowing. The couple of fliers are no doubt me and not the rifle and I haven't had a chance to try any other ammo yet - but I am quite happy with these for the time being! I will obviously have to rezero it again once I have had the barrel screw cut and recrowned and a moderator fitted so that it can be used mainly as my "Rabbit Lamping Gun"! If those are well rested groups without wind etc i should keep trying and clean the barrel well between brands. Try 10 five shot groups ie a full carton a time SK subs (lapua) are always worth a go. A good sound .22 should be more than capable of single raggy holes at 50 yds and little more than a bullet hole at 25yds. The reason i say clean between brands is two fold. 1. two lead lubricant types don't always mix well 2. some brands take longer to re-lead the barrel and tighten up
