i have been looking for a decent stud dog to line my bitch in the next week or so and have the chance to use THIS

the pups should have the making of being excellent gundogs.

charlie is a small cocker and rock steady.

a snip of him below.

let me know what you think

cheers

Rob

WORKING COCKER SPANIEL (LIVER)

DUKE OF DURHAM D.O.B. 22/06/09 (CHARLIE) Proven Stud Dog Sire FTCH TIMSGARRY SIMPSON Dam is out of Will Clulee's OFTW LULSLEY JACKSON. 51 FTCH out of 62 in five generation pedigree. Charlie is a small type Working Cocker solidly built excellent mouth ( no overshot or undershot ). Charlie is a stylish calm hard hunting dog, works to the whistle and his offspring have been very easy to train even for the novice.

exactly what i thought,

she is now booked to be sired by him this fiday all being well.

when i visited him today , he has got to be one of the best cockers i have seen in years, both by looks, steadiness and working ability.

all were second to none, and look forward to the rearing of some quality cockers.

Strong lines indeed :good: Although the 51 ftch out of 62 is a bit misleading in that Maesydderwen Kestrel

appears 7 times along with a few others mentioned 3 to 4 times. Mind you Maesy' Kestrel is on my dogs pedigree

2 or 3 times as well, so he gets around!

Good luck with it and you should have some cracking pups at the end of it :good:

Why didn't you just go & use Simpson?

I have a Simpson bitch at the moment, shes a flying machine.

Good Luck

i am using duke of durham because i like the look of him and his pedigree

he is also more local and very reasonably priced ,along with the benefit of watching him work.

doesnt make a difference to me,still caries his sires name and for all the right reasons.

Horses for courses my freind.

Yup each to their own, but id be using the sire, and i wouldnt be letting price sway my judgement, unless your breeding for finainacial gain.......

i wont take the financial gain bit as an insult,as aforementioned i like the dog and i,m breeding for my own purpose however should there be surplus pups they will be sold to cover cost, vetfees, docking, etc.

i could if i wish use any stud i want financialy, but as ive said this dog suits me and his working ability as i mentioned is second to none.

every one to their own fancy.

This is one occasion where I would say go for it, unlike many people who pitch up to use the local or latest FTCh stud you have actually seen the dog working, liked what you have seen and feel he suits your bitch so the paperwork is largely irrelevant (provided the two dogs pedigrees are compatible, which I assume you have checked).

Best of luck :good:

thanks for the reply,as i previously mentioned he is a cracking little dog imo in all aspects.

as in all breeds you need to start somewhere ( dogs are not born ftch ) but trained to become them.

as i said and i agree with wgd i am breeding for my own personal use.

i dont intend to trial any of my dogs, but work along side me whilst shooting.

thats good enough for me.

as far as trialing my previous litter in 2009 has proved that the standard is there, with dogs taking places which were sold to darren skidmore (breeder of mole famau mini) and also mike kirkbride off here ( torlea gundogs ) both have taken to trialing and the prizes are there for those handlers to prove.

all i can say at this time is the stud is good enough for what i want and will be going with it,but we all have our oppinions.
