Lord Geordie
Here you go bud here is the pic you asked for I stripped the wax off with a wax removing fluid lightly rubbed it down to remove any patena or residue left and then gave it 2 thin applications of stain. Then i put some stain in with the Stock oil to darken it before applying the oil. 4 coats so far and looking good Also i have reshaped and finished the but pad off I am lucky to have a shop locally who sells stuff like Danish oils stains etc nice n cheap Hope you like the piccy LG
dunganick
that has darkened it down nicely, i still need to try and get some danish oil and give it a try, i am told 1 part danish oil to 5 parts tru oil makes for a very good oil. Also a good job on the recoil pad picked up the new gun this weekend but ive only done 50 sporting on it so far
Lord Geordie
Just don't use NEAT danish oil and leave it on to long It goes like GLASS and is a complete and utter so and so to remove once it's hardened it's like Varnish Not so bad if you can SPRAY it on as it would make a LOVELY job but with swirl marks from rubbing it in ( ) As for 50 on sporting was that 50 for 100? I went on sporting at Steve Smiths on Wed and hit about 20 for 25 first round Then 5 for 25 But then i WAS chopping anc changing guns again I need to settle into using just 1 LG
dunganick
it was 33/50 not my best score ever, but the birds were hard and it was a new gun (those are my excuses and im sticking to them)
Lord Geordie
It's GOT to do with fit I had a go of my Mates trap gun and i was SCORCHING and got a really good bird rate but with the Rizzini no way The AYA is a good one though i think the Rizzini will go the journey in the next few month as i want a 30" or 32" trap gun for the clays. Am thinking of a Bettinsolli like my mates LG
dunganick
half the reason my score was lower was because the chap in the shop who sold the gun to me was trying to instruct me on how to shoot better, and how i wasnt seeing the correct picture down the barrel (too flat.... resulting in getting smacked in the face) so i was sort of learning how to shoot all over again. Hopefully the new gun will fit better than the old one, it also has 30" barrels like the lanber, however they are much heavier, and its going to take some getting used to, but the 28" barrels were far too pointy for my liking. I managed to get the chap to give me a free lesson in 2 weeks time, will be going along then for some pointers, and to pick up my extended teague chokes
