leeds chimp
Just made lunch and the dog has been in and got the carcass of chicken off the side...just the breast bit..not the legs or wings. Anything I can do or is it just a case of keeping an eye on him??
JustJon
Take it off him? Have a quick look and check if all the bone is still there or if he's chowed it down? The bones around the breast don't "crumble" as much as leg bones in my experience so hopefully he/she has just stripped the meat off? mick miller
Hmm, I wouldn't panic too much. Putting my part-time butchers head on for a moment modern chickens are bred to reach slaughter size in a few weeks rather than several months, as such the bones are softer and pliable rather being brittle and hard. ack-ack
My Beagle stole a whole frozen chicken when I was de-icing the freezer. She was being remarkably quiet so I knew something was up. Found her doing the last of it in up the end of the garden. She looked very uncomfortable a few hours later and the gas she was dropping was truly hideous but she suffered no effects other than getting a boot up the jaxy. kent
If it was raw, forget it they have the equipment to handle it. Cooked is more of an issue yet still you would be unlucky to get issues first time from splintered bones- just keep an eye on things
