NickHead
Hi all, I am in need of a roll of 4oz/6oz nylon netting as used in purse nets. I realise that the nets are relatively cheap but I would like to make some larger ones to cover 3/4 holers. The majority of nets are 3/4 Ft long and I would like some bigger. I have made a few nets myself and find the time required is too long and I get bored easily. Not only that, I find that the thinner the twine, the nots tend to slip and the hole increases in size. I just cannot find a source for the pre-made netting. Companies who sell pre-made nets sell the twine and rings, pegs and draw cord, but thats it. It may not be as good as a net made from scratch ( with regards to the tying off at the rings ) but it will be a lot faster and easier for me to do this way Cheers Nick

NickHead
Hi Saz, thanks for the link, that looks like just what I am after. The raw ingredients for my own design. Nice 1 Cheers. Cheers for the link Poacher, had a look on there. Good for bits and bob's but I cannont find and netting. Only longnets that have been pre-made, it could work but it would be an expensive way of doing things. Regards to you both. Nick

NickHead
Hi Saz, Looks like the only place that has been suggested (by you, cheers) is the B.Brinded place. I e-mailed them for a delivery price and it all seems decent enough. As the net is not only for me ( my brother-in-law is going halfs ) I don't know wether to order the 4z or 6z. I prefer the 6z ( just in case you have to give it a good pull ) as it is stronger, but he said he wanted the 4z as it is more manageable. For the price I may as well get one of each and then say told you so when his gets wrecked. Mind you, he is an oldish guy (60) and prefers to use hemp nets. I am not as old, and move with the times, therefore nylon it is. Regards Nick

Regards Nick nice one. yeh his prices are pretty decent. i think i agree with your brother in law over the material tho hemp is so much better. dont tangle so easy and mush easier to make nets with for those of us who arent lazy and buy sheet netting
NickHead
I also like the hemp net, it's not that I prefer Nylon, it's the making of them. I don't have enough time to do the hobbies that I am trying to keep going, never mind making nets from scratch. I can do it, but I just can't give any thought to make 30+ nets, it would drive me crazy, although very theraputic, to say the least. I will be seeing him tomorrow and can find out what he prefers to do. CUL Nick
NickHead
Anyone have any more ideas about mesh netting suppliers. I have tried L.Brinded, as stated earlier, but e-mails don't seem to be getting through. I don't want to ring because that is what I got a computer for, e-mails, supposedly the speed of sound and virtually instantaneous, I could have walked there and placed an order. There must be somewhere else that sells bulk netting for purse-net making, with a decent maildrop system that is monitored daily. I think i'd better get some twine out and start making some, at least i'd be getting somewhere. Regards Nick ( still netless )

NickHead
Hi Saz, I've looked till I was blue in the face, but to no avail. Anyways, I received an e-mail back from them with the prices, maybe it's just me being a bit impatient. Seems like they stock everything I need and their postage is reasonable too. Just got to work out what I want and away we go. Cheers for the help Regards Nick
