Went to go out last night lamping,

Preliminaries done - check

Warm coat - check

warm hat - check

Test the head lights and spots on Lanny -- check --- ooops nope ... uncheck -- Main beam blown and a one eyed wink from the headlights.

Drat ,

quick scrabble under bonnet and thinks - change bulb --- Nope :(

Surprise surprise -- sealed beam units fitted and need a new one -- double drat.

Off i went out with a one eyed winky wonky wand wova.

Today , tried to source new headlight sealed beam unit.. No stock + unobtainable.

Answer from various sources + Lanny agent is : Sealed beam units for defender No longer made + Not obtainable.

Remedy is, and done + dusted : New conversion headlamp replacement kit - comes with bulbs too :) wicked :):good:

£25.00 lighter in the pocket + an hour of my time before tea and the jobs a good un .(could have been half hour, but i took my time and greased all the screw threads as i refitted)

Nice new shiny lights and a good beam of light all round > and i can just change the bulb next time one goes .

I had twp lines of thought when I read the title. First was I have one in the shed, pay the postage and it's yours. Second was no sod it, change them for the conversion kit because you'll be better off in the long run.

You made the right choice. Now all you need is to change the bulbs for a set of PIAA or Osram Nightbreakers and you'll be able to see for miles. No more candle in a jam jar style Landy lights which are that dull you can barely see the tarmac!

Cheers dude ,

Right choice made i think and i will defo` seek some different bulbs as you suggest :good:

Meanwhile ,

I too now have a spare unwanted useable defender sealed beam unit sitting in garage now about to collect dust :hmm:

So,

If anyone wants one , I too will offer my one free for postage covered or collect for free from Leicestershire :good:
