rabbit killer
ive got a 3 year old springer bitch that was basically trained(picks up a dummy, sits etc.) and i was wanting to get her back into it. she lives with 5 other dogs all working and fully trained. is there any way of getting her to start retrieving game? with the dummy, she is very light mouthed and often drops it. she sees it as more of a game to be honest. she's not too keen to pick up game either. any advice would be much appreciated. kent
has it done feathered dummies and rabbit skin ones? put it in a sock, let it run in, chase the thing on a string anything you can to get the dog into it initially. personally i have never had this issue, i think its either coz i won't have certain types here or coz they get exposed to dead game regular from tiny pups. it must come as a shock to some dogs when they encounter a dead anything
bi9johnny
second the above ..dead game in a nylon to start as not to put it off with loose feathers then take the nylon off and its good they see it as a game to begin with keeps them keen good luck
